Favorite drink with your cigar? :

I%26#039;ll usually go with a good whiskey/scotch or gin tonic. Any suggestions for making the best of the cigar?Coffee drinks are great, try Kahlua, if you don%26#039;t like coffee, just keep it a dark drink. You don%26#039;t want the cigar to overpower the drink. I know that sounds backwards if you want to enjoy the cigar, but a stronger drink will make the flavors of the cigar more prominent. That totally depends on the type of cigar as well as the ring size. Generally, with a robusto I enjoy a Rusty Nail, which is 3/4 Scotch/Whiskey and 1/4 Dram Bouay. I think the slight sweetness of the Dram help to offset the thick bitter taste of the larger ringed cigars. I usually smoke Patrons or Montecristos. So you are not too far off from what I would personally drink with a cigar. For the smaller ringed cigars like petite coronas or just coronas though, I tend to feel like there is not enough smoke, and my taste buds are left a little bored. Also, since smaller ringed cigars produce much less smoke, it leaves your taste buds more untouched and sensitive (which is why people who don%26#039;t drink hard liquor can tolerate it when smoking a thick cigar). In those cases, I love sweet martinis. Chocolately martinis like Tiratinis (Tiramasu Martini) or an Apple/Raspberry martini are still pretty strong, so it goes well with the smoke, and at the same time, much sweeter, so it picks up what the small cigar tends to leave you wanting. Then of course, in my oppinion, the best compliment to any cigar; Port - red wine. You always need to go with something with high alcohol content when smoking a cigar, but generally wine is too weak. Because most wines are low in alcohol content compared to liquor, the smoke will overwhelm the wine and you mine as well be drinking beer. Port generally has an 18% alcohol content though, so it really comes through well. Also, port is so extremely high in sugar content compared to normal red wine, it can compliment even a cheap cigar, and make it much tastier. Just be careful not to pick out a port that is too cloying.Sorry about the lengthy reply, feel free to ask if you have any other questions. I hope that was of some help though.Less expensive cigar - ruby portExpensive cigar - vintage portAny cigar - Whiskey mac - made with proper scotch (not malt) and original stones green gingerI save cigars for after dinner and a nice chair,....I prefer an XO Cognac or something a little better. My Dad used to drink Courvoisier cognac with his Dunhill cigars.a Cuban cigar or possibly a Dominican, goes with either a vintage port, or Madeira, a good Cognac or Calvados, any other kind of cigar, try methsGognac.Buckfast.Everybody is suggesting cognacs and ports, how about a nice barleywine that has been cellar aged for a while?scotch, neat.Or port.Nothing wrong with a cold beer and a good cigar in my opinion.
